Biz, yes you do both rounds of the jumping and then the flat even if your first round is lovely. If you want you can think of it as a chance to fix your mistakes but... That is sort of the first stage. The next step is thinking of it as being consistent in both. Hunter is based on consistency of way of going. If you are consistent in your equitation, your lines, and your technique then you know you are doing well. You are also racking up points for the division with each class. So really you are getting more chances to get more points to go towards the division.

Both clovelly shows will have walk trot western, however, they re not NEA point earning classes. ANy show can add additional classes to those that were listed above.

I just thought I would ask, is there going to be walk/trot western AND english classes at the GFW show(s)?? I am really excited for the shows! Even if I only get out to watch one, I will be very happy!

The Best bet IS
When there is a show comming up, Get in contact with the show cordinator! Example, for the Spring show at Clovelly, Get a hold of Susan and Erin and Ask them if there will be Walk Trot in the western or whatever you are looking for! Ask Before the prize lists are even made!
If you contact them and tell them you would like to enter in the walk trot classes for western (no points, but who cares!) And that there would be Lots of others wanting to enter those classes as well, (meaning the class would be Filled!)
I'm Pretty sure They would Love to add those classes!
That goes for any show! At clovelly, at the race track, at Avalon, Grand falls, SCS, Anywhere! Just call the person in charge and talk to them!!
I know there are LOADS of people looking for western walk trot!
walk trot is pretty much the Best way to start out! English and Western! and not only for the rider to start walk trot, but for the new (/ greenish) horses as well!
Appamoosa, I'd suggest getting ahold of the person holding the GFW show! Or ask some of the girls if they can check for you! It might depend on the judge!

Wow. I don't know what to enter! Me and Beau could jump a course max 3'' but I'd NEVER remember the more difficult course. I'd also like to do jumper, but again...I'd have wayy too hard a time remembering jumps. I'm stuck to courses with small jumps because they are easier to remember. Hmm, I'll push myself. Question: Will the courses be the same for all the hunter classes just the jumps get a bit higher? What about jumper? If they stay the same, I'd have a lot easier a time memorizing the courses. :)Wishful thinking.

I think that as the heights increase the level of technicality (right word?) of the course should also increase but I am not sure if that is actually practised. I think it usually is?

I'm thinking the same thing. As the jumps get higher, for Hunter, you Might get asked for a more Difficult course. But Hunter course are not usually that hard anyway, nowhere! You wont be asked for any retarded rollbacks I dont think!!! For the Eq. you'll have harded courses as the jumps get higher, as thats what the eq if for.
I'm going to guess that When the pirze lists come out for the shows, it SHOULD explain the differences with the hunters and the eqs. I'm thinking they'll explain the differences in the heights, and that their either Will or will not be different courses for the differentheights (avalon, terra nova...)
Not positive though.

I have also been wondering if there will be guidance as to which divisions a horse and rider should enter.
I've been trying to decide which division myself and Donna will enter. We showed Junior Advance last year. The jumping heights were 2'9?? or 2'6? haha I have a horrible memory. So i was wondering what jumping division we should enter?? And jumper as well...we were sowing in open jumper last year..so if I want to do jumper again this year what jumper class should i go in?
And for the hacks classes....I should go in amateur right ?

haha ok thanks....that what I thought it was...it's just me having a bit of a not-so-bright moment lol
so if I showed in 2'9 last year should i go in the Cabot Hunter, which is 2'9, or Terra Nova Hunter, which is 3'? or would it depend on Donna's jumping ability? but that doesnt really matter because she can jump both heights.
