While I agree that it would be nice to get to all the barns, I think that would be a bit unrealisitc. You have to take into consideration all the main (i use this term loosely) barns that wold be interested in a clinic....Cloverdale,Clovelly,King Ranch and Southern Cross. Then you have to factor in approx 3 or 4 groups for the larger barns (Clovelly,KR and Southern) at approx an hour a session (and very rarely does a session stay restricted to an hour)..so right there thats 9 hours. Then you have to allow an hour break for the clinician..and then factor in commuting time to each barn.
So unless the clinician wants to be on the go at 6:30 that morning to finish at a reasonble hour in the evening, or if you can convince riders to stick around and ride at like..8 or 9 o'clock in the evening, I dont think its feasible to get to every barn!
If only we had a time thingy like Hermione had in Harry Potter....

Just thought I'd throw my experience in here- A lot of coaches simply refuse to work more then one or two barns in a weekend - I believe that is why Ruth stopped coming!
The long days are hard enough as it is, but when you have to travel across the city to the various barns (because, for the most part, they are NOT close together...only clovelly and cloverdale are a short distance apart!) it wastes valuable time and can end up pushing the schedule later and later... thus making a long day even longer!
...so it could be that it just isnt the fault of the organizer, but more that there is nothing they can do about it.
Another option would be to bring the same clinician back multiple times, and have a different barn host the clinic each time.

i'll see what happens, and i'll try my best to please everyone----- Thank you Emily. It would be so great to have a clinician or two come to southern.
Another option would be to bring the same clinician back multiple times, and have a different barn host the clinic each time. --- This a great suggestion HEA, that would definitely be good if the clinician in question was available to make multiple trips.
Vicky--Valid points you make. Seems clinicians can be hardpressed in time availability so I can see that there would be restrictions. As I said before, I know there are alot of factors involved in setting up a clinic.
And Mel--I have on occasion thought about doing just that--organizing a cllinic. I just don't think I'm the one to do the organizing!!! I'm not that good at it!
Anyway, Emily, keep us all posted and let us know what transpires with Joey and Mel Gray. And I'll keep my fingers crossed that a clinician or two will be willing/able to travel to multiple barns while here to do clinics.

yeah i've sent out a few emails, and made a few phone calls. Mel will be down she said "as soon as things slow down" and I haven't heard back from Joey Sampson. Im going to send an email to Shelagh Starr today, she's fantastic, and as far as I know does english and western, as well as is a parelli bronze level coach? I think thats what it's called.
