How long do you get to look at the jump course before you do it? I want to do senior regular o/f but i definatly won't remember the course. Also when you enter the arena, are you supposed to circle first? I have no idea, I've just seen people do this. I'm not a shower anyone who's going to the centaur...please don't laugh when I screw up horribly!...im already getting nervous

The best thing to do when you get to the show is to get your course and memorize them. The amount of time you get depends on you. Theres no time limit really. You can watch other riders while studying your course if it helps.
If youre doing hunter, then I think you do a circle before you start-though its subjective to each judge-some like it, some dont. If its a jumper class I dont think it matters.

Pick up a copy of your course (or write it down if copies aren't provided) and head over to the outdoor ring and using the map of the course simply follow the course while referring back to your map. The courses are fairly simple so you shouldn't have too many problems. Try closing your eyes and mentally visualizing your course and what each jump looks like.
I personally would p/u the canter and do a circle before you start your course. This allows you to start the course in a steady, balanced canter as you approach your first fence.
Good luck at the show.

course copies are usually available the morning of the show...sometimes beforehand. Hunter courses are usually pretty simple to memorize, jumper courses include harder things like roll backs, broken lines etc etc. and will be harder to follow.
It is standard protocol that you do a "hunter circle" before you start your course. Most judges are fine with it. It is generally a 15 or 20m circle that is used to pick up your canter and get it well established, balanced and rhythmic.
If you enter on the right rail, you should ride on the rail and then circle away to the right before starting the course. If you enter on the left rail, ride the rail then circle away to the left...dont ride off the track and then circle towards it! It is always best to start "on the fence" and then move into the other spaces of the arena.
