I have never felt the need to do more than a single 300gm blanket in Newfoundland. When Cativa was in Ottawa then only wore blankets when they went outside. If it was colder than -20, they stayed inside.
Even now, in NL at Clovelly, the barn is usually pretty warm, and horses are better off on the cooler side of things. Nothing worse than a horse over heating.
I cant imagine having to deal with all the clips and straps associated with having more than one blanket on at a time, haha. My brain would explode!

With the weather now in NL during the winter, I can't see having to blanket more than a simple heavy weight blanket on cold days. For me, if the temps drop super low with the wind chill, I just leave them in.
