I understand there are many points of views on this and I thank you all for your constructive critism. Why did I buy such a green horse? Well, I thought he was MUCH farther along then he is. That being said, he and I have both learned a lot over these past 2 months, and I have no intentions on giving him up anytime soon. It's like jewelsmith28 said, we get attached to the fool animals. I understand where you're all coming from, believe me. Now, I haven't posted for a while, and we've had some ups and downs. He's specacular at a walk now, listens to my leg, circles and everything. We are starting his moving forward again tomorrow, where I didn't ride him for almost two weeks because of other commitments. He's been a little jumpy lately, but I'm happy to say, no more falls since the second one. His bridling issue is gone, and his kicking problem still needs some improvment but it has definatly improved His manners have improved too, he'll stand still in cross ties and I can even tack him up in his stall now. He's definatly improved over all and I'm very happy with him

Poet and Velvet are not closely related as you think Julia.... I am sure there lines cross somewhere WAY back like all horses from the same breed but its like saying two random quarter horses are related. Just FYI

It's like jewelsmith28 said, we get attached to the fool animals. oh is this ever true! ask anyone whos knows what i started off with when i bought sky.. haha just dont give up on him is all i can say! i went through probably worse with sky at the beginning, she would have me in tears at the end of the day, but dad just kept telling me not to give up and it would all pay off eventually, and it did! katie

So Poet's having a bit of an allergic reaction to something and has hives on his back are really sore so I haven't been able to ride. We've been working a little on ground manners but now he's getting back to work. I free lunged him today to burn off some energy and he loved it! I'll be doing that for a couple more days and then we're working on lunge work to help him get his balance.

I actually have no idea at all, I'm going to contact his old owner to see if this has ever come up before.

I haven't posted in a while again, but it hasn't been anything major. We figured out it was a bacterial infection in his skin (trust me, it sounds way worse then it is!) and now we're treating it. Until this is cleared up though, I can't ride, because the little bumps on his back are really tender. So I've done some in hand with him, with leading and I started his desensitizing to the path where he's incredibly jumpy (but he was fabulous for that and his bath today ) and after that, I will hopefully start introducing him to the road!

Kathy gave me a little lesson on lunging, since I'm not very familiar. He was really good! He acted up a few times but it was mainly my fault. He didn't want to move but that's because he's had a few weeks off. He was walking l, trotting and wishing really well. His skin is back to normal and he'll be riden again soon.

He had rain rot, and we don't really know what caused it. The vet perscribed some special shampoo and it finally started working. Thanks though

Today was really great! We worked on the whole walking when I walk, stop when I do, etc. concept. He was doing so well, so I gave him a lot of slack on the lead. He didn't act up in the very least. He was doing everything perfectly, it was just like when he had no slack! We did a little trotting in hand, which is still pretty fast, so I needs more work. But I am very pleased with my pony

Really good day! He was good as gold in crossties and good for his feet. I lunged him again and he was so calm an good, I got on him for a few minutes. He behaved really well, especially for the first time being ridden in over a month!
